Susannah joins Eventia's CR working party (11/11/2009)

Corporate Responsibility (CR) isn’t something we just pay lip service to. We take our role in reducing the impact our activities and those of our clients have on the environment very seriously. That’s why Susannah Sheffield has recently joined Eventia’s CR working party.

Susannah Sheffield

Eventia is the event industry’s association and its CR working party is responsible for offering advice and guidance to members of Eventia on environmental and social practises.

The working party meets every six weeks to discuss and devise useful resources that will help Eventia members create value-led events that aim to have a positive social impact on people and a minimal impact on the environment.

Recent initiatives include the Green Globe Index which enables organisations to benchmark themselves against peers in sustainable activities, as well as a toolkit on how to deliver low carbon events.

Susannah says, “While social and environmental issues have always been high on my personal agenda, in a busy office it can get pushed to the back of our minds. However, I am well aware of the social and environmental impact of Event Management; an industry that clocks up thousands of air miles, consumes a vast amount of power and destroys many trees worth of welcome letters, agendas and handouts. As a CSR representative at Oxford International and now an Eventia Corporate Responsibility working party member I am keen to work towards minimising the impact.”
